Yes, this is direct mail. Direct mail works and mine works better than most. I use direct mail because it's effects are measurable. You can predict with a great deal of certainty how many loans you will get from any given number of letters you mail. How do I know? Because I test them. I have it down to a science. Many mail houses are happy to advertise a .04% response rate. I'm not knocking them. That's a decent response, but that's why they have minimum orders in the thousands. Otherwise, your phone wouldn't ring.
